Over the last month or so, we have met seven times. First, there was a general/introduction meeting to get people "geared up" for the season. Some members also took a trip to Suttons Bay to check out their robotics team. The third was Thursday, November 5th. We had two: one at lunch and one after school, because some of us could not make it to one or the other. We looked at what tools we had and the ones we need.
Our next meeting was November 11th; we had snacks and drinks, but we had many leftovers because very few people showed up . Anyway, we talk about fundraising, branching out to other teams, and finding ways to get more people to join. It was a successful meeting, even with many members missing.
A few days later, on the 17th, we had a better turn out. 7 out of the 15 people showed up, but 4 of them said before hand that they could not come. We got most of the members that came signed up with FIRST, which for those who don't know, is a big deal. We learned about a get together at Petoskey on December 12th and started to look into it and talk about it. I got some photos for about us page! (More to come, don't worry!). Also, we talked about a pizza party to get more people interested in robotics. We made a plan to start getting everything organized. We looked at our awesome T-Shirt design (created by me). We also checked in on our networking, our wish list, tutoring for peers and middle-schoolers, and we learned about maybe-- fingers crossed-- that we will get varsity letters!
Next was a meeting on December 1st. Our main thing was Petoskey and getting presenters, as well as figuring out who would be able to make it. Also, the topic and the outline of the presentation. We learned that we will be doing tutoring/ homework every Wednesday starting in January. We started to make signs and we organized. So much organization went on! It was so great; everyone was helping. No one was sitting around, doing nothing. Two people, James and LuAnne, got the part numbers for all the tools we wanted.
Today, the 10th of December, was a good meeting. We worked hard on the presentation for Saturday. We are partnering with East Jorden on Rookie Mistakes. We talked about getting our new T-Shirts for the robotics Kickoff on January 9th. For Petoskey, we found out the exact place and time to get on the bus. ( May I just say that 7 AM to get on the bus is going to be an early start to a Saturday, but it should be fun.) We organized some more; it never can be too organized. I worked on the website some more! We talked about working at the basketball game next Friday. And talking to other teams some of us chose who we wanted to get in contact with to share ideas and ask questions.
